Renewable, clean energy is an urgent need for our planet. The next generation of inventors, innovators and engineers are in middle school right now. Help our planet and our students by funding our Kid Wind engineering project kits. Students will gain valuable insight and understanding of wind power generation and turbine design. Students will design and construct wind turbines and blades for maximum energy generation. Further, the economic and ethical considerations involved in wind power and other renewable energy sources will be covered.
We're looking to purchase 3 kits for about 80-100 8th grade student groups to design, build and test wind turbines. This is a STEM project, and aligns with both Engineering Design and Human Impact on the Environment learning targets.

Founded in 1988, the Beaverton Education Foundation raises money to provide hands-on innovative academic enrichment and advancement programs & projects that go beyond normal school funding at all Beaverton public schools and is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization. BEF mobilizes community resources to fund innovative classroom, summer and after-school programs.
In the event that this project does not reach its goal, BEF may apply the funds received to another project in need.
