My name is Amie Davenport, 5th Grade Teacher at Errol Hassell Elementary.  I am one of three advisors for the after-school 5th Grade Robotics Teams we voluntarily created three years ago.  Students are encouraged to apply for the Robotics Team and compete with their peers in a world-wide competition using Dash/Dot robots through Wonder Workshop. Our teams are diverse and no prior coding knowledge is needed for them to participate. Currently, we have one regulation competition mat to use with our 4 teams and four carpets/rugs that are barely adequate for competition.  The mats are green screen so that teams can decorate to meet the demands of the competition and so that the robots run smoothly within the allotted areas.

The money we are trying to raise will go toward funding competition mats so that all of the teams can compete equally with the same equipment. 

We have had high success with our team in the past using the competition mat (finishing in the top 1% of the world - #72 out of over 7500 teams), and I feel that we should give every team the same opportunity to succeed.  We plan to buy three more green screen mats for $150 each to have four total.  This would allow for all four teams to have access to the same equipment, and the ability to earn full points in competition.
