My name is Deborah Barnes. I am a photographer, Co-owner of Vancouver Casting, and I LOVE our BC Wildlife!
Critter Care really needs our help.
I believe we All want our wild animals to live good lives and get the best care. We are emotionally attached. Look at all the wildlife videos we share!
Most don't know it, but we are counting on Critter Care Wildlife Society to be there when we find animals in distress.
They are not government funded. Almost all of the $600,000+ they need per year must come from donations!
Then, THEN they have the 24/7 job of looking after all the injured and orphaned wildlife that We send them. They have undertaken a monumentally difficult task and it benefits us all.
And now Critter Care has a new expense. Years of hard use has taken its toll on their enclosures.
They need new ones for their bear, deer and coyote. It is an added expense of $150,000.
Critter Care tends to our wild animals when they are at their most vulnerable. I would like BC's community to do something big, heartwarming, and Helpful for them.
I would like for us to raise $50,000 towards the badly needed enclosures.
They have given us over 30 Years of service. They have quietly cared for and returned to the wild over 30,000 of our injured and orphaned animals. Baby Bears and Fauns, Little Coyotes and Raccoons, Tiny Oppossums, Mink & Marmots, Adorable Otters & Beavers...even chipmunks and flying squirrels!

Critter Care has made headlines in recent months as staff & volunteers have rescued and sheltered a record number of orphaned and starving bear cubs.
Partly due to last year’s hot, dry summer, almost 3 times the usual number of bear cubs were rescued and brought to Critter Care .
And there wasn't enough room.
The hard truth is Critter Care had to turn away baby bears.
Baby bears and other wildlife orphans have already started to arrive at Critter Care.
Just a few of the hard working Critter Care staff.
We are already at almost 20% of our goal!
Just 2000 people giving $20 would get us pretty darn close to our goal! Whatever anyone can afford, Southern BC has millions of people. This should be simple and Fun!
The trick will be to spread the word swiftly and for everyone to give what they can.
With some animals coming from as far away as Revelstoke, & others being rescued from Burnaby, Maple Ridge, Coquitlam, Sunshine Coast, Pemberton Valley, Squamish, and Whistler - our grateful community is spread far and wide!
Critter Care works crazy hard to raise money for their facility. And they do it all with a smile! Amazing!
Our gift will be a welcome relief
to the amazing team at Critter Care!
CRITTER CARE FACTS:
- It costs over $600,000 per year to run. This is money they must raise themselves!
- Critter Care needs the hard work of 5 paid staff, 16 Interns and many volunteers. (Critter Care would not exist without the selfless hours given by all the volunteers.)
- They employ 3 contractors to provide maintenance, building, and office support.
- Critter Care is the only facility in Southern British Columbia that specializes in the rehabilitation of our native mammal species.
- Critter Care has looked after and returned to the wild well over 30,000 animals since becoming a registered charity in 1993! This amazing number includes over 300 Bears!
They do all the work that we don't have the knowledge or resources to do.
