Cooper Mountain Elementary, Library hasn't added a story.
Cooper Mountain Elementary school's library is well loved with over 15,800 items in our current library collection. Our student population of 524 is diverse and has many different interests in a wide variety of subjects. Students often use the History & Geography, Social Sciences, Literature, Technology and Science for research and personal interests. However, many of our books are out of date or represent inaccurate information.
In February we pulled our library record collection (as seen below from Follett TitleWise Collection Analysis) and found most of our non-fiction sections are still in need of updating. We have been working on improving our non-fiction, but need help to make it more current and relevant for our students and teachers.
Our long-term goal is to update our non-fiction collection to an average age of 2013 or newer so students and teachers have more pertinent information.
- In this way we would reduce the number of aged titles, and increase the percentage of books available in circulation to 2013 or newer.
- We would increase greater cultural respect by representing all families in our diverse community by expanding Literature and History & Geography.
- We would better support the Science and Social studies standards currently being taught by improving our Social Science, Science and Technology sections.
- We would increase print texts to support on-line research and diverse learning needs.
- We would better accommodate our many students who love reading and learning about high-interest non-fiction topics such as animals, dinosaurs, drawing, origami and sports.
We are looking to raise $2,000.00 for this goal. Thank you for considering supporting our library project.
This project is supported by the Beaverton Education Foundation.
