We are the Adapted Physical Education specialists and serve our Special Education student population from kindergarten to the Community Transition Program. We plan year-round activities for our students such as a fall bowling event, two winter basketball programs with the HoopFest tournaments, a Color Run in the spring, and we welcome summer with the ISC Kickball Bash.  Our pinnacle event is our Track & Field Day when over 150 staff and their families from all special education programs come together with over 500 students from self-contained classrooms and over 100 peer helpers, for a morning of track events and just plain fun.

To enhance these events, we are asking for $839 to assist us in purchasing a pair of durable speakers, microphone, protective glasses, tshirts, and field flags & markers. It would be helpful to us to have the speakers as they are portable, come with powerful battery that lasts for hours, has bluetooth capability and a microphone so that we are able to give directions to students and staff during our events. These items will also keep us safe and staying informed.

Our Special Education students have worked hard to further their social and physical skills in the Adapted PE setting. For many of these students, these do not always come easy, but the hard work students have put in and the slow but steady progress is truly a testament to the resilient individuals that they are. Each of our events allows students to come together and celebrate their hard work by applying these skills. It gives our students the opportunity to apply their social and physical skills in a fun and meaningful way!
