The first time Sex Trafficking was brought to my attention was when
an organization called Not4Sale came to our church. They shared the
atrocities that were happening to women and children being sold into
sex slavery in Cambodia. It was heartbreaking to think of people being
sold like a product and violated by others. There had to be a way to
stop human trafficking, a way to help rescue and restore these people
in these third-world nations. Several years ago, I came to understand
that this isn't just a problem overseas; it is a problem right here in
Canada as well. When my son and I were invited to meet a few local
guys who started an organization to help fight against this great
evil, we knew we needed to get involved. So, we have joined Freedom
8848.
The organizers knew it was a mountainous problem, a problem
the size of Mnt. Everest. And that is where Freedom 8848 was
developed. They decided to climb the equivalent of Mount Everest, 8848
metres, in the Canadian Rockies. So they climb nine mountains in 3
days to fundraise and raise awareness for organizations both locally
and abroad that are helping rescue, restore, and develop a national
curriculum to prevent children from being groomed into trafficking.
Human trafficking is the fastest-growing industry in the world. It is
too big for any one person to make a difference on their own. But
together with your contribution, we can make a difference. My goal is
to raise $8848 which is aproximately the cost of a rescue opertation.

THE PROBLEM
Sex Trafficking is one of the fastest growing criminal industries in the world. Here in Canada, this crime takes place daily in our biggest cities and our smallest towns. The average victim of sex trafficking is recruited into the industry between the ages of 11-14. As you read these words, an estimated 50 million people are living in slavery. Stripped of their safety, dignity and liberty. This is nearly 1 in 150 humans. It's already illegal, now it needs to end.
THE MISSION
Our mission is to end the crime of sex trafficking by helping ordinary people stand with local and global anti-trafficking initiatives. Together we raise funds and awareness for our partner organizations as they fight sexual exploitation by Preventing trafficking, Rescuing victims, and Restoring survivors.
THE CHALLENGE
This August, Climbers will take on the elevation of Everest, here in the Canadian Rockies, at the 5th annual Freedom Everest Freedom Challenge. 100% of the proceeds will go to our partner organizations: Her Victory and International Justice Mission. Since our inception in 2020, over 1200 contributors have been involved in raising over $325,000 through our annual Everest Freedom Challenge. Now, we invite you to join the Groundswell too.
