Join families, friends and advocates as we walk to raise awareness and support for Impact Uganda and the work of Jinja Connection in resettling Street-Connected Children!
The CauseSeveral mornings each week, a social worker walks the streets, informal markets and alleyways of Jinja, Uganda to remind familiar faces and invite new children to Jinja Connection's centre for its day program. Soon, a group of children materializes alongside the social worker to the centre, where they receive meals, classes, and counselling. They also get to wash themselves up and play games with each other! For some children, that walk will be the reason that they are eventually reunited with their family, reconciled to their community, and able to continue their education. In 2022, a total of 108 children participated in programming, 30 children were resettled back with their families and 48 children were re-enrolled in school. However, the demand for Jinja Connection's services has never been greater with increased numbers of children leaving home due to the harsh effects of inflation and unemployment in Uganda.

Important info
Date: October 14th, 2023
Time: 9:00AM. There will be a short presentation and thank you from Jinja Connection Staff before the walk begins. Please stay to enjoy refreshments at the conclusion of your walk.
Cost: Make a donation and share the opportunity to sponsor your run/walk with your loved ones and network.
Tax receipts will be issued for all donations.
Once you have signed up, you can donate the amount of your choice directly through your fundraising page.

Here is what the event will look like on October 14th!
Arrive at Elmira Pentecostal Assembly (290 Arthur St S, Elmira, ON) at 9:00am to get situated! We'll gather in the sanctuary for some stories of how your fundraising is making an impact in the lives of street- affected children in Jinja, Uganda and get inspired before we head off on our 5k Walk loop around Elmira!
At the conclusion of your walk, join us back at the church to cool-down, drink some water and stretch and enjoy some refreshments with your fellow participants.
