Thrive for Good US hasn't added a story.
One Training Center, 14 Villages, 36,000 People
Poor households in Zambia have been impacted negatively by changes in climatic conditions. Each farming season they work hard to realize a better yield, but they are confronted by either droughts or flash floods which wash away their crops.
The local initiative called “Feed Family 36,000” will be the primary conduit for rolling out the organic farming project in the town of Kapiri Mposhi. The local churches and communities will be mobilized through local pastors and church elders, denomination heads.
The current approaches in the agriculture sector are stretching the earth’s life support systems to breaking point as people use methods that are not sustainable. These approaches to farming are damaging the environment and causing people to realize much from the labour of their hands. It is for this reason that this project calls for the adoption of organic farming which is a form of sustainable ways of farming to mitigate climate change and increase farming yields.
This project called the “Feed Family 36,000” seeks to contribute to improving the livelihoods of communities living in poverty and are engaged in agriculture. Through this project, we hope to call for a reworking of the agriculture sector based on Biblical principles, principles that are just and sustainable.
“Feed Family 36,000” means that 6,000 families of 6 individuals per family in 14 Villages in Kapiri Mposhi especially orphans, widows and senior guardians will have enough food and surplus available for market income. This translates into 36,000 individuals transformed.
In Partnership with Thrive for Good, trainer Billiance will be constructing a demonstration and training center at his farm. Once built, an internet connection will be established where the Thrive Institute online courses in organic agriculture, nutrition, natural medicine and income generation will be shared with members from 14 villages.
