My Story
As many of you know, I am living with Multiple Sclerosis. Every day, I fight to manage the challenges this disease presents. However, I have discovered that maintaining my physical fitness greatly eases my journey. Long-distance running used to be my preferred exercise, but various symptoms of MS have stripped that away from me.
For the past several years, I have sought an activity to fill the void left by running, but nothing truly resonated. Then one day last fall, while casually walking past a boxing gym in my neighbourhood, I decided to step inside... (Cue the angelic choir!)
I've been boxing for several months, and I'm completely hooked! It has become a fantastic way to get into shape, acquire a new skill, forge new friendships, and enhance my outlook on life. Until recently, the training was fulfilling enough; I never envisioned sparring let alone competing. What changed? I learned about the Eastside Rumble!
- The Challenge. I want to put my growing skills to the test and discover what I am truly capable of under pressure.
- The Commitment. The Eastside Rumble will push me to stretch my limits, develop new skills, move past old limits and continue my fitness journey.
- The Community. This is a opportunity to meet others who are also dedicated to improving themselves and contributing to our community.
- The Cause. I can train and fight at my current club. What makes the Eastside Rumble different is it provides a unique opportunity to help foster a sense of belonging, resilience, and opportunity for at-risk youth in our community.
I’m ready to rumble! Are you ready to support
me and give the at-risk youth a fighting chance to thrive?
Your Impact
Your generous support will enhance Eastside Boxing’s free programs coaching, and dedicated welfare staff to support at-risk youth living in and around Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Previous funding has contributed to the training of new coaches, development of peer trainers, upgrades of equipment, and improvements to the training space and boxing ring. To learn more about the club and its programs, please visit: https://www.eastsideboxingclub.com/
If you are unable to contribute at this time, Please considered sending me a word of encouragement. The training will be challenging, and your kind words will serve as motivation to keep me pushing forward.
What's Next?
Over the next 12 weeks, I will keep my supporters updated on my training fundraising, and information about Eastside Boxing's programs and community.
Fight Night is scheduled for Sunday, June 7th, at the Vancouver Fraserview Banquet Hall. Tickets will go on sale in May. I will inform all supporters when they become available, so you can come out and cheer me on!
Hey Vancouver,
It's that time of year again... Eastside Rumble 2026!
Eastside Rumble 2026 will provide much needed funds to support Eastside Boxing Club.
Rumble fuels:
-
improved free programs and coaching for our youth
-
dedicated welfare staffing and individual and group support
-
the return of our Under 13 Buddy Program
-
increased support for our fighter team, and greater access and opportunity for young athletes — many from our youth program — who otherwise wouldn’t have the means to participate in the sport
