THE INITIATIVE
The pandemic has caused irreversible effects on Brazilian society, especially the deepening of social inequalities that mainly affect the black population. This situation threatens the cycle of economic development and cultural valorisation and the entire agenda of confronting structural racism.
The "Yes, I can too!" campaign aims to support the Afro-Brazilian resistance in the face of the economic crisis, with the allocation of investments to support Afro-entrepreneurs, touristic professionals guides, educators, intellectuals, and other partners who work with the valorisation of Afro-Brazilian culture at Diaspora.Black platform.
The initiative is an international action to mobilise supporters in different European countries, in the USA and Asia, through crowdfunding campaigns developed by local partner agents.
WHY "YES, I CAN TOO"
Our purpose is to value and promote Afro culture for all people: black and non-black people who want to know our culture and add to the anti-racist cause. You can too!
You can join music, dance, literature or yoga workshops. You can learn about Afro-Brazilian history and political and social movements. You can experience authentic dining experiences, touristic and cultural itineraries about the legacy of black culture around the globe!
Promoting these experiences is the reason why Diaspora.Black exists. These experiences are available at the platform hosted by entrepreneurs, tourism professionals, leaders, and cultural agitators, who have had their activities almost stalled since 2020.
HOW TO SUPPORT
The initiative is an excellent opportunity to be part of a global network of Afro-culture with representative inclusion, without the common stigmatisation of black history and identity in the world. It will be a pleasure to welcome you to our network!

DID YOU KNOW THAT?
The Covid-19 pandemic and the political situation intensified inequality and poverty in Brazil, with a greater impact on the black population. In 2021, covid-19 mortality increased by 28% among the black population, while for the white people, it grew only 10% compared to 2020 (AFROCEBRAP / POLIS). In the opposite direction, the vaccination of white people is twice as fast as that of black people, according to the agency.
Among 14 million unemployed in the country, 61% are black (IBGE). Among the Entrepreneurs, 76% had no revenue in 2020 and 46% are struggling to maintain their business (Sebrae, 2020). In education, school dropout affects 4.3 million black students and 1.5 million white students (Cebrap/ Pnad-Covid / IBGE).

BUDGET DISTRIBUTION
The Campaign will support Operational Improvements like the promotion of Afrocentric guided tours, commercialisation of Brazilian Afro-entrepreneurs services in Europe and translation of the website. It will also boost the platform technical capabilities along with marketing campaigns.

ABOUT DIASPORA.BLACK
The platform has the technology to expand its reach, visibility, and sales of afro-entrepreneurs services. Currently, there are more than 500 entrepreneurs connected to an audience of more than 100,000 people every month.
During the pandemic, the platform represented growth of up to 40% in the generation of revenue of entrepreneurs. In four years, the platform has mobilized more than R$ 1.2 million in sales, directly benefiting Brazilian black entrepreneurs.
There are more than 7,000 customers in this period and a total of 35,000 people impacted by the stories we value to sensitise everyone to know the black culture and engage in the anti-racist cause.
The social impacts resulting from our performance are monitored by indicators associated with nine United Nations’ Social Development Goals (SDG).
