Yazira lives in great poverty in the Dominican Republic. She is 25 years old. She and her husband, Rolando (31) have 3 children, Yendry (9), Ariel (5) Emil (2).

Rolando was hired by a fishing boat. Sadly the captain sailed into international waters and the whole crew was jailed in Miami. Yazira was forced to move in with her parents who live in a tiny 2-bedroom home. 8 people live in the house. Her father has diabetes and is very sick. They have been unable to afford medication. He was previously the sole provider for the family.

It is also a huge stress for her mother.

Through the generous donations of Roxane Quaranta and Walt Lorgan, we have a plot of land in Loma de la Bestia where we can build a home for Yazira and family including Rolando when he is released from prison.
