Forever true to "The Underdog", Rural Dog Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of high risk dogs in economically challenged high kill shelters who are often overlooked for adoption or rescue. The hounds, black dogs, seniors, the sick and the broken.

EMERGENCY funds needed for emergency boarding and vet bills.  These poor hounds were victims of an animal cruelty case where 32 dogs were found emaciated and without food or water in 100 degree heat!  8 dog carcasses were also found. Only 17 hounds have been made available to rescue and need out of the shelter now! We have pulled 6 but need to move the dogs we already have in boarding up to DC so we can help save more! This is an emergency! The shelter will not hold these hounds long. There were 32 and now there are 17 - they have already started euthanizing.  We are raising funds to pay for emergency boarding and vet bills.  These dogs are very emaciated, full of ticks, have tick related diseases and some are heartworm positive.  Please share and donate so we can help these 6 and make room for others!  Time is not on their side!  Space is very limited at our vet in NC so it is urgent we move them to boarding!  If you are interested in fostering or adopting please vist our website at www.ruraldogrescue.com  UPDATE:  We took the remaining hounds that were there.  So 12 emaciated hounds in all!  Please donate!
