I'm hiking the Presidential Traverse (Again)!
Contribute today to help me give the gift of fun and friendship to a child who has spent too much of their young life fighting cancer. Every dollar makes a difference.
Â
About The HikeThe Presidential Traverse, nestled in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, is an iconic hike that spans over 20 miles. It's notorious for its unpredictable weather conditions, over 9000 feet of elevation, and panoramic views of the majestic Presidential Range. This formidable trek is not for the faint of heart, demanding serious endurance, navigation skills, and significant experience hiking the Whites. In 2021 I was part of Camp Champions and I hiked the traverse with an amazing team before moving to California for graduate school. Now that I am back on the east coast, I am excited to take on this challenge again in spring 2024 with a new team and hiking for a different camper! We will be hiking in early June, crossing 11 peaks over just 2 days. Preparing for this difficult hike is much like running a marathon, and I'll be training for the next 6 months to complete it successfully. Â

Why I'm HikingAs part of my challenge, I have committed to raise $2,000, enough to send Leah to Camp Casco for an entire week in summer 2024. I have been a volunteer for Camp Casco since 2019 and I was lucky enough to be Leah's counselor at multiple camps (yay blue cabin!). She is incredibly creative, resilient, and a joy to have at camp. I am really looking forward to fundraising for Leah directly and getting to spend another summer full of fun with her! Camp Casco's free camps and community programs for New England kids surviving cancer include all essentials, including meals, lodging, 1:1 counselor support, and round-the-clock medical care. These programs foster peer connections, self-esteem, resilience, and a return to the joy, wonder, and adventure of childhood. Leah's mom shares, "Camp Casco has been the highlight of Leah's summer the past two years. She talks about her experiences at camp year round! The counselors are so caring and wonderful, and they give Leah a strong feeling of belonging that can sometimes be difficult to find in day to day life. Leah loves her Camp Casco family." Â
