The Ukraine Freedom Project solves difficult problems in Ukraine in areas not well-served by international organizations and educates US policymakers with firsthand information about the situation on the ground.
The Ukraine Freedom Project (UFP) was founded on Day 5 of the war by former House leadership chief of staff Steven Moore . Steven is perhaps the only person in the world to deliver humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian front and whip votes on the House floor with then-Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy. The Ukraine Freedom Project has delivered more than one million dollars’ worth of humanitarian aid and non-lethal military gear to the Ukrainian front. At the same time, Steven has used his policy knowledge and relationships on Capitol Hill to educate policymakers on the importance of supporting Ukraine.
Humanitarian Aid
The Ukraine Freedom Project has a network of trusted and vetted
Ukrainian volunteer organizations that delivers humanitarian aid to
areas impacted by the war that are not well-served by large
international organizations. As one recent example, UFP delivered
tons of aid to Kherson, a city that was flooded when the Russian
blew up a dam on the Dnipro River.
Non-Lethal Support for Military Units
The USA and European donors are sending sophisticated weapons to Ukraine, but many Ukrainian military units lack basic gear. Most soldiers in Ukraine were regular people prior to the full-scale Russian invasion. UFP's partners include software engineers, lawyers, marketing executives and a personal trainer. The Ukraine Freedom Project helps these ordinary Ukrainians defend their homes with Starlinks, body armor, combat boots, car parts and drones, among other important basic equipment.
Educating Policymakers on Capitol Hill
American enthusiasm for supporting Ukraine is waning, particularly among Republicans who are not receiving the best information about the situation in Ukraine. Military support for Ukraine is in the interest of the USA and Ukrainians have been excellent stewards of the aid they have received to date. Military aid to Ukraine is an amount equal to a small fraction of the annual budget of the US Department of Defense. With this, the Ukrainian military has degraded the Russian capacity to wage war by more than fifty percent and taken back nearly sixty percent of the territory lost in the full-scale invasion.
Any break in military aid or pause in the fighting will only give Putin an opportunity to rebuild his military capacity.
Steven is using his relationships on Capitol Hill to provide better information to Congressional staff and members of Congress so they can make better decisions on Ukraine aid. As one example, Steven spoke to some 200 Congressional chiefs of staff at the House Republican Chief of Staff annual conference in May about his experiences in Ukraine.
Media about the Ukraine Freedom Project
The efforts of the Ukraine Freedom Project have been chronicled in Politico, Business Insider , Roll Call and the Washington Examiner.
Steven has appeared on Fox News , TVP World, Scripps News, SiriusXM’s POTUS channel, numerous local stations, such as KUSI San Diego and Suspilne Kharkiv and many others.
