Women refugees from South Sudan fled violence in their country a decade ago.  Violence that continues to this day.  Because of it, they are living in a refugee settlement across the border.  They partner with (SSLCD) South Sudan Leadership and Community Development to set up cooperatives that provide them with incomes.  These cooperatives include things like soapmaking, sewing, animal husbandry, and agricultural production.  This income is vital because they are prohibited from working in their host country.
Because of the stipulation against refugees working, the UN's World Food Program (WFP) provides them with rations.  But this past July, the WFP announced that donations were down and that it would no longer be able to provide them with food.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?  It means that unless food production is greatly expanded, women and children will go hungry.  The good news is that they have already developed skills and experiences through their existing agricultural cooperatives to plant and harvest more land.
WHAT IS NEEDED?  In order for women refugees to plant more land, they need help.  It is urgent that $15,000 be raised.  The expenses include the following:
With this money, the women will be able to feed their children and other vulnerable people including widows, orphans, and the elderly.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?  Please donate today to Planting Seeds of Hope.  All amounts are welcome, and even small amounts will make a difference in alleviating hunger and food insecurity.  One hundred percent of your donation will go directly to expanded food production.
