The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is among the largest
and most influential business advocacy
organizations in New York,
having spent the last hundred years developing and promoting policies
that
drive economic development and advance its members
interests. The Brooklyn Chamber is the voice of
Brooklyn’s
business community, offering the resources, programs, tools and direct
support businesses
need to continue creating jobs and
opportunities in their communities.
Since 2003, the Brooklyn Chamber has operated the Brooklyn
Business Solutions Center, a program of
the NYC Department of
Small Business Services. The Center offers a suite of free business
development
services including start-up assistance, Business
Education Courses, Legal Assistance, Recruitment and
Training,
Minority and Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Application Assistance,
Financing, and
Regulatory Assistance.
Founded in 2017, Brooklyn Alliance Capital (BAC) is the
Community Development Financial Institution
(CDFI) lending
affiliate of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and offers micro loans
to small businesses
in Brooklyn that typically do not qualify for
commercial bank loans. BAC provides financing and
education to
underprivileged minority and immigrant entrepreneurs, and low-income
small business
owners to increase economic opportunity and create
jobs. Since its inception, BAC has made 22 loans
for a wide
variety of business needs including marketing, equipment purchase, and relocation
assistance.
