The first annual Vancouver Social Media Awards was hosted by the Yaletown Roundhouse community center. The event awarded the key players in the social media marketing in Vancouver. Awards were presented to Best Blog, Best Student Organization, Best Social Video Channel, Must Follow, and Best Social Media Campaigns.
FundRazr received the Best Social Media Campaign (non-profit) for its “Sharecraft Save the Children” campaign.
Save the Children partnered with DC Entertainment to create Sharecraft Challenge 2012. Sharecraft 2012, The Save the Children Challenge was headed up by pro gamer Athene, a gaming community (World of Warcraft) and YouTube celebrity (611,000 YouTube channel subscribers).
Athene challenged gamers every night via his Gaming Livestream platform Athene Live, to compete and start their own sub fund-raisers – tapping into their gaming DNA (and social conscience) for a place on the leaderboard and chance at Razer gaming equipment prizes.
The gamer participants were successfully engaged by their ability to compete for prizes or recognition by creating sub-campaigns including rich media on the FundRazr platform.
