7 Places To Give On #GivingTuesday
Crowdfunding Advisors, FundRazr Team
This year FundRazr has joined the #GivingTuesday movement. Unlike Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving to others. On Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014, charities, families, businesses, communities and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
Each and every day FundRazr has the opportunity to be a vehicle for people to share their incredible stories and dreams to become a reality. FundRazr enables online communities of support to come together and rally behind an idea or cause and as a result celebrate a new tradition of generosity. We’ve seen the true power of the crowd coming together when Baby Luca needed treatment after his heartbreaking accident, and when funds were needed to complete the documentary RiverBlue, a film aimed at bringing awareness to the destruction of some of the world’s vital rivers.

To celebrate, we decided to highlight 7 not for profit organizations that are doing something good in the community and giving back to those who need it most. Join us and be a part of this global movement: read their stories, contribute to their cause and share it with your friends.
1) Capability Ranch Special Needs Activities Center
In honor of Nicola and Tony’s son Jack, 21, who passed away this month as a result of a Traumatic Brain Injury, and his surviving brother, Owen, 19 and autistic, they ask for your generosity and open hearts to help fulfill their dream to open Capability Ranch. Capability Ranch is a non-profit ranch-based activities and events center for youth and young adults with autism and other developmental disabilities to be creative, learn, grow and laugh.
Your generous giving will help Nicola and Tony make this dream a reality to serve their special needs tribe who have amazing untapped creativity, love to learn and be creative and have fun together. Capability Ranch will also provide parents a place to bring their ‘forever kids’ to commune and make new friends — where the tears, worries, quirks, low lows and high highs are understood and embraced with laughter and love.
2) Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue and Wings of Rescue
Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue is teaming up with Wings of Rescue for a Holiday Mutt Airlift on December 5th. Their goal is to transport 150 small shelter dogs to NYC. Small rescue/shelter dogs are in high demand in NYC and surrounding areas because so many people live in apartments, and crowded neighborhoods. Marley’s Mutts needs help to raise the funds to purchase 50-70 small/medium dog crates, and find a rash of new fosters in Southern California to support babysitting operations until the airlift.
3) Hellfighters Christian Motorcycle Ministry
There are currently over 600 kids in foster care in Sebastian County, Arkansas alone. Hellfighters Christian Motorcycle Ministry is partnering with DHS to make this a Christmas to remember for these foster kids. The Bible reminds them to take care of those in need. Matthew 10:42 “And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward”. Hellfighters are asking people to partner with them in their efforts to help take care of the children that need it most.
4) Tennessee Death Row Dogs Inc.
For most people, the holiday season is a time of love, laughter and family. For Tennessee Death Row Dogs it’s also a time when they are absolutely overwhelmed by all the dogs and puppies in need of their help. It’s far too cold to let young puppies live outside and shelters are packed to capacity. In the last few days, their rescue has taken in seven new dogs. All of these new additions are welcome, but they also need veterinary care, food, puppy pads and toys. In the spirit of giving this season, you can help support their rescue efforts.
5) Get Lit Words Ignite Inc.
The Marquesha Babers Storytellers Fund exists to assist the Get Lit Players in reaching their goals and dreams. The Get Lit Players are a troupe of teen poets who perform all around the world and engage their peers in social activism through art. Get Lit focuses on igniting high school students with love of literature and increasing teen literacy rates. Get Lit is raising funds for Walter Finnie, a 19-year-old poet and student at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. A graduate of Youth Opportunities High School in Los Angeles, he performed throughout high school with the Get Lit Players and traveled with them to Brave New Voices 2014, where they placed 3rd in the world! Walter must raise $3,400 by December 4th to stay in school, or he will be forced to leave the University he worked so hard to attend.
6) The Critter Place Inc.
The Critter Place is a Florida Non Profit sanctuary for neglected, abandoned and abused animals that need a safe, loving and caring forever home. They are a 26 year old sanctuary for “throw away animals” saved from abuse, neglect or abandonment and provide a safe haven for animals in need. They need help to continue their work saving animals this holiday season.
7) Mississippi MOVE Inc.
Mississippi MOVE is a locally-known, nonpartisan Social Advocacy and Mobilization organization steeped in community service, voter empowerment and civic engagement. They first learned about the plight of Emergency Shelters while partnering with local organizations that coordinate shelter resources. The numbers of homeless are increasing and MOVE does not want to see women, children and vets back on the street. MOVE hopes to gain more recognition for the plight of these shelters and is raising funds to inform the public of this action and ask for support in help raising money to save these endangered lives.
These are just some of the many powerful causes you can support this #GivingTuesday.
