EXPERIMENTAL: Test a new device for sampling and store your sample for tests in perpetuity. Includes both 16S and shotgun sequencing! Instead of a swab for sampling we will send you a kit to sample whole stool (looks like a Cool-Whip container) and shipping material to return it to us. This Perk includes DNA extraction, 16S rRNA sequencing, and shallow shotgun sequencing of the stool sample and shows which bacteria and archaea were present in that sample, along with how much of each kind. You will be able to view, download and print a high-resolution certificate suitable for framing of your results and access to more detailed taxa report of your results - which can be viewed online and downloaded into Excel. We will retain the residual stool material to use in future studies and development of new methods for testing samples. Please note these orders will not be shipped until we have fulfilled the quantity limit.

The human body's largest population of microorganisms resides in the gut and is collectively called the gut microbiota, and each person has one unique to them. Factors like what you eat, where you live, how much you exercise, and so much more can create these differences. Submit a fecal sample to better understand what makes up your microbiota.
By contributing and selecting this perk, you will receive the following:
- An easy-to-use at-home collection kit.
- Access to an online food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) which gathers information about your diet (average time to complete- 30 minutes). Easy-to-follow prompts will guide you through the process of collecting information about the foods you eat regularly.
Upon returning your microbiome sample and completing the FFQ, reports will be available showing the following:
- Microbial lineages found in the sample
- Microbial comparison to others in the TMI dataset
- Evaluation of your food and nutrient intake
Sample collection is non-invasive, and each kit includes free return shipping.
Important: Once received the collection kit should be completed and returned within 6 months.
