Kent County Search and Rescue (KCSAR) is a 100% volunteer Search and Rescue team trained to search for missing people in and around Kent County as well as other parts of Michigan. We are working to acquire a trailer and equipment for use during searches.

You see on the news that someone is missing. Perhaps an elderly person with dementia has not returned from a walk. Maybe a child goes to visit a friend without permission and can't find their way. A hiker is overdue. In situations like these, law enforcement officials call on trained professionals to locate and rescue the missing.

Kent County Search and Rescue (KCSAR) is a 100% volunteer search and rescue team trained and equipped to search for missing people in Kent County, Michigan and beyond. Home to both the city of Grand Rapids and wide areas of wilderness, Kent County can be a challenging environment year round. With about 80 members, KCSAR spends hundreds of hours per year training and many hold nationally recognized certifications.

KCSAR trains its members to execute methodical searches for missing persons in many scenarios including:

  • Alzheimer's patients or those with dementia
  • Suicidal persons
  • Missing children
  • Overdue hunters, skiers, or runners
  • And many other situations

KCSAR volunteer members are ready and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to assist local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and other first responders. The team also commits countless hours to assisting local charities, fundraisers, and community events.

How can you help? As a volunteer organization, KCSAR members are required to fund their training, equipment, and supplies. However, there is some equipment that the team needs as a unit for team operations. By supporting KCSAR, you can help provide:

  • Equipment trailers necessary to deliver essential supplies to a search location
  • Generators to run electrical equipment in remote places
  • Radio equipment for team communications
  • Tables and canopies
  • Medical gear and supplies needed for rescues and first aid
  • Computers and other electronic equipment

100% of the proceeds will go directly toward this equipment. We provide an essential professional service to the communities of West Michigan and we need your support! Join us as we grow and donate to this great community asset!

KCSAR is a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are fully tax deductible and a tax form will be provided for your donation. We thank you!
