We are asking for your help again.  With over 20 children living with Kate in the 4-bedroom home we built her we have decided to build the second level sooner than later!! Her home is bursting at the seams. 

When we built her home and presented it as a surprise on February 14, 2024, she had eight boys living with her.  Here is a list of the children who are with her now (with a few of the older ones who come often for meals). 

Marilou was the first girl who came to live with her.  In desperation Kate added her to her busy household.  Since then many other girls in crisis situations have joined the family. 

It is very difficult to have teenage girls and boys living in the crowded space.  The second level will be for Kate and the girls and the first level for her helper and the boys.

Hello Everyone,

During my trip to the Dominican Republic in March, I had the opportunity to speak with Kate. Many of you know about our ongoing project to build a Women's Shelter and Girl's Orphanage to support at-risk women and children. Kate has already taken in several girls she rescued from abusive situations, and her home is now overflowing. Initially, I thought these girls could be relocated to the shelter once it was built. However, Kate shared with me that these young girls have experienced such severe trauma that relocating them wouldn't be a viable option.

This conversation sparked an idea—Kate needs a second story added to her house. Yesterday, I spoke with Louise, and together, we brainstormed ways to make this happen. Louise reached out to a friend, and we now have an incredible opportunity: a generous individual has pledged to match up to $10,000 in donations to kickstart the fundraising effort! The total cost of the project is approximately $45,000.

I’m reaching out to ask for your help in making this additional space for Kate’s children a reality. Tomorrow, I will share the link to the fundraising site. To get things started, I’m committing the first $500 donation myself. Next month, I plan to hold a garage sale and contribute even more. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.

Thanks so much to Pearl for being the spark to get this started.  As we await the final building permits for the Women's Shelter/ Girl's orphanage, we want to start building immediately on Kate's home.
