Santa Fe Magazine Festival is proud to support Jessica Matten’s Indigenous Film Academy, an initiative designed to train and employ the next generation of Indigenous creators.
As the lead actress on Dark Winds, Jessica Matten (front
center in photo) is committed to elevating Indigenous storytelling
through performance, producing, and long-term industry access. Her
work extends beyond the screen, creating sustainable pathways for
Indigenous talent to enter and thrive within the global film and
television landscape.
Developed in collaboration with the Institute of American
Indian Arts and supported by AMC Networks, the Academy helps Native
students and graduates gain direct access to the film and television
industry through on-set apprenticeships, technical
training, creative development, and professional opportunities.
Operating out of the Institute of American Indian Arts with the
support of Dr. Shelly C. Lowe, the Academy supports student tuition,
instruction, program delivery, and real employment opportunities for
emerging Indigenous filmmakers.
Donors supporting the initiative will also receive producer
credits on an upcoming television series Matten is producing for AMC
Networks, creating a direct bridge between philanthropy and
professional industry experience.
The mission is to create real infrastructure, ownership, and
opportunity, positioning Indigenous voices to lead. Together, we
invite our community to help support students attending the Indigenous
Film Academy. Donations made through this campaign are tax-deductible.
Support the next generation of Indigenous creators.
Please share our mission with your community.
Thank you!
