For the Mamas mission.

For the Mamas  is a series of free community art workshops designed for mamas and their children in San Jose. The project aims to cultivate a space where moms can show up without feeling worried about whether to bring their child. Building accessible shared creative spaces where mamas can connect is necessary for collective wellbeing, joy, and imagination. 

How you can help.

We appreciate any monetary donations, art supply donations, or even sharing this workshop series with mamas that may be interested in participating!

How contributions will be used.

Any funds raised will go directly to stipends for professional workshop facilitators and childcare support as well as art supplies. The more funds we have, the more workshops we can offer over a longer period of time! Therefore, more mamas and their children will get to co-create FOR FREE yay!

More about For the Mamas

This project came about when the founder, Jess Gutierrez, gave birth to her daughter in March 2024. With a background in organizing community art events, she set the intentions to cultivate creative spaces for mamas and their children. This was not something that she found easily trying to navigate the arts scene of San Jose as a new mom. For the Mamas is a way to connect, create, and play in a supportive community where moms are welcome to show up as they are in all the beauty and messiness of mama-hood.
