Willie Eaglin, Jr. lived a life of honor, integrity, and service. He was a father figure to many and drawn to mentoring countless youth primarily in the area of sports and education.  For most of his life Willie Eaglin, Jr. came in contact with and inspired youth from various walks of life.  To the kids in the neighborhoods in which he lived he was Mr. Eaglin.  To the communities and schools he protected and served for nearly 30 years with the Chicago Police Department he was Officer Eaglin.  To the churches he faithfully attended he was Brother Eaglin. To me he was and will always be Dad.  No matter where it was he always found ways to help young people.  He provided many outlets for and created a space for young men and women and as a result exposed them to a positive environment filled with the warmth, love, and attention needed during this crucial stage in development.

With a family of 5 kids and a loving wife, he still found time to give of himself to help others.  He understood that he was sowing a precious seed in the lives of young people to give them hope for the future.

Willie Eaglin, Jr. died Tuesday, February 4, 2014.  In his honor, we created the Willie Eaglin, Jr. Memorial Fund to embody the character and celebrate the life of Willie Eaglin, Jr. The fund will provide resources to support programs and organizations that focus on youth development, mentorship, sports, education and more that we believe he would champion.

We have joined with Polished Pebbles Girls Mentoring Program and Courtology Institute as our first funding partners for the Willie Eaglin Jr. Memorial Fund. We believe these two organizations are doing phenomenal work in the community to enrich the lives of youth through mentorship, education, sports, leadership training.  For these organizations to thrive and provide youth the tools they need to succeed resources are needed.  You can click on each of their names above to find out more about the work they are doing.

Our first goal is to raise $5,000.  So, we need your help to make our goal for 2014 a reality!!

Quotes about Willie Eaglin, Jr.

A most precious husband, father, spiritual role model and friend went home to be with The Lord. Bro.- Dea. - Min. - Eld., Pastor, Willie "Bill" Eaglin. He was the EPITOME of what is means to be a Deacon and Minister: a true servant of God; his AFC Pastors, Bishop Holly and Bishop Smith; His physical House, the 38th St building and grounds; and His people through late night van rides and more. He made every effort to provide a safe home home or place to visit by young men. He located weekly gyms for fellowship, communication, skill development and fun for young boys & men and their fathers. As a Chicago Police Officer and w/ the Favor of God, it was amazing how AFTER Friday nite Young People 's service, there was always a park or school gym in which to play. Oh Lord and The Eaglin Family, we thank you for the Gift of Bro. Bill Eaglin

-Min. Sarah Rockwell Martin

He reached out to brothers like me and became a spiritual and surrogate father to many of us. I am forever grateful for his love, patience and teachings. His impact on my life is just as significant to me as my own biological father. In some ways, greater, because he led the way in me getting saved. What better gift can a man give another man than that? He gave me the blueprint.
