Mental health touches all of us. We might have an affected family member or friend, or experience mental health challenges ourselves. There should be no shame in this; getting access to whatever support is needed is what is most important. In 2020, 21% of U.S. adults (52.9 million) experienced a mental health condition, per the National Alliance on Mental Health.

This past May, in conjunction with Mental Health Awareness Month, Hightower launched our new Mental Well-th program, promoting mental health awareness at Hightower. We chose “Well-th” because it is about wellness not sickness.

Our employees are the foundation of our success; our mission is to help each of them achieve holistic well-th. The Mental Well-th program provides events, resources, educational materials and toolkits that will continue to foster and promote an environment of curiosity, empathy and acceptance when it comes to mental health.

Mental Health Association of Greater Chicago is an independent not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping our communities tackle mental illnesses.  For over six decades, they have taken mental health education to schools, homes, and the communities with customized, research-backed programs and supporting tools. Their work has served to break the stigma and empower our communities to seek necessary support for the prevention and effective treatment of mental illnesses.  Funds collected in this Well-th Walk will go where it is needed the most.  www.mhagcusa.org
