Have you ever made an unsound decision where your family or even society will not allow you to forget especially after suffering the consequences for years?  This is exactly what has happened to my husband, father to four precious children. On February 14 th while some may have been out celebrating Valentine’s Day with their love, I received the chilling and horrific call from my husband informing me that he was arrested by the immigration authorities.  As you can imagine, I was devastated and severely distraught. My husband, Perking, migrated from the Dominican Republic to the United States at the ripe age of 14. He then later became a U.S. permanent resident.  At a glance this whole scenario didn’t make sense. I later learned, once I was able to calm down and within a few minutes into the conversation with my husband, that he was detained for a crime he committed over 24 years ago; a crime for which he spent 6 years of his life serving. Since then, he has been a law abiding resident.  I’m outraged at the injustice done to my husband especially to our children. I strongly believe that families are the building block of society. If we tear this structure down, then the destruction of our society will follow. In order to unite my husband to his/our family, I have to hire an attorney at a fee of $10,000. His incarceration has left me as a single parent with one income struggling to fend for our children.

I am graciously asking for your help to keep our family together.  My children ask daily, “When will daddy be home?” Having to hear this statement every day is heart-wrenching as well as emotionally draining.  Perking is an amazing father and husband. Would you extend your help through prayers and a monetary gift in order to bring a father to his children?

Blessing and many heartfelt thanks,

Asha, Brandon, Tasha, Ashley
