Kimberly Costello hasn't added a story.
"One-Love" is a small non-profit microsanctuafor farm and other domestic animals. To us “One-Love” is an expression of unity that reflects our philosophy of universal love and respect for all beings. We are ethical vegans and all of our animals are treated with respect and not exploited in any way. Importantly, we are a small rescue and only take on as many animals as we can properly care for in the long-term. We currently live with two turkeys, several ex-battery hens, a Muscovy duck, 2 pot-bellied pigs and 17 (yes … that’s right) cats.
The Rescue Pig Project for which we are seeking your help refers to our plans to fence in a pasture for two rescued farm pigs, named Ginger and Agatha. These girls are currently being fostered at Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary which is truly an amazing place for animals. However, they have been inundated with pigs in need of rescue and there is no long-term space on site for Ginger or Agatha. Our friends at Cedar Row have asked if we can provide these Ginger and Aggie with a forever home which would also free up fostering space for future rescued pigs at Cedar Row.
Ginger was raised on a farm to be butchered for her
meat. Thankfully her life was spared when the people who purchased her
has to abruptly move. This summer, little Agatha
showed up on the front steps of someone’s house in the town of St.
Mary’s (with several pig farms in the vicinity). It is a complete
mystery as to how Aggie, a three week old piglet at the time, made her
escape, but thankfully she is now forever safe from harm.
We are fully committed and prepared for the long-term expenses
of everyday care for Ginger and Agatha; however the initial costs of
housing and fencing are an overwhelming expense. With the support of
Cedar Row and Niagara Action for
Animals, we have been able to purchase the housing structure
(10x24) which costed over $5000. At this time we are desperate to
raise additional funds to fence in an acre (at least) of pasture for
the girls, after which the pig palace will be ready for Ginger and
Aggie.
Based on quotes from local companies, we estimate that fencing
for the pasture will cost approximately $5000-6000. Consequently we
are looking to raise - $3000 in order for the project to be
completed. This is our first crowd funding attempt and while we dislike
asking for help, we would very much appreciate any support you can offer.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to provide Ginger and
Agatha a forever home and we know they will end up changing the hearts
and minds of everyone who meets them.
Thanks Kindly
Kimberly & Chap
