My name is Dan Beekman, and I’m asking for your support.
I consider myself one of the most blessed people I know. I have
an amazing wife, Bridget, and two incredible kids — my son Hudson
(10) and my daughter Jasper (7). Over the past few years, I’ve been
on a deep journey of gratitude and awareness, realizing just how
fortunate I am in so many ways.
As I’ve stepped into my 40s, I’ve also found myself reflecting
more on purpose and meaning. Life is moving faster than I ever
imagined, and I’ve been asking myself: why has God been so good to
me, and what is expected of me in return?
For me, the answer is becoming clearer — to live with intention,
to love well, and to stand against injustice wherever I can. I want
to be someone who brings hope, healing, and freedom into the world,
and who tries to live in a way that reflects the life I believe I’m
called to live.
Recently, I discovered Freedom 8848 and was deeply moved by
their mission. Freedom 8848 organizes the Everest Freedom Challenge:
a powerful effort to combat sex trafficking by hiking the equivalent
height of Mount Everest — 8,848 meters of elevation gain — right
here in the Canadian Rockies. Over three days (August 20–22, 2026),
participants summit nine mountains, each step raising awareness and
funds in the fight against human trafficking.
That contrast hits me hard. Victims of human trafficking face
mountains of suffering — exploitation, fear, isolation, and trauma —
that no one should endure. The nine mountains I’ll climb serve as a
symbol: each one a step against the peak of injustice. Just as we
conquer elevation one step at a time, we can move the mountain of
sex trafficking through persistent action, awareness, and support.
This challenge has inspired me to step forward. I’m committing
to the Freedom 8848 Everest Freedom Challenge to raise awareness and
funds that will go directly to Ally Global Foundation, a Canadian
charity dedicated to the prevention of human trafficking, the rescue
and protection of those being exploited, and long-term recovery and
care for survivors.
This is just the beginning of a longer journey for me to learn
more, get involved, and encourage others to do the same.
