More about the Mission at EA:
Our community is struggling to meet basic physical activity and healthy living recommendations to achieve optimal health. The impact of low physical activity and suboptimal healthy choices is leading to a growing problem of chronic health conditions. Many of the chronic health conditions plaguing our society including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer are considered preventable with proper nutrition and exercise.
Did you know people living with even just one physical problem or health condition are:
- 50% do not meet physical activity guidelines as compared to 24% in the general population as outlined by the Surgeon General of the United States
- 57% are considered obese
- Are 2 times more likely to have hypertension
- Have 5 times more mental stress
- 4.2 times more stroke risk
- 2.5 times more diabetes
EA Therapeutic Health was founded on the principle that people with physical health and mobility challenges face significant barriers to living healthy and active lives. Our mission is to empower people of all ages living with physical health and mobility challenges to achieve healthy, active, and independent lives. It is estimated that 1 in 4 people living in the US have at least one physical limitation including pain, disability, or visual impairment that limits their function and therefore their health. Let's move and groove together on June 29th to eliminate the financial barriers that exist to make healthy happen in Olmsted County at EA!
