Hi My Beautiful Friends,
This is my FIRST ever boxing fight and I have signed up to get punched in the face for a GREAT CAUSE!
A year ago I would NEVER have thought I could actually train for a fight. We have all aced BOX fitness classes but this is a whole new level for me. The fighter's training is incredibly intense and hard, I am giving this my very best. I train on an average 12 times a week - all of this happens hours before and after my day job as a recruitment consultant. This is the first time I have dedicated so much time and energy training to support a cause I believe in and to really give back to my community here in Vancouver.
Last month I signed up to Aprons for Gloves (AFG) supporting an INCREDIBLE cause - to help vulnerable, at-risk women, youths and kids living in the Eastside Vancouver community. The funds raised from the fight offers free mentorship and training to vulnerable women and youths in our community who don't have the resources to participate in any sports activities. Boxing helps teach discipline, respect, hard work, self-control and most importantly provides strength and CONFIDENCE to women. As of December 2018, the Eastside Boxing Club Youth Program has supported 500+ youth aged 10-19 who predominantly live and/or spend time in the Downtown East Vancouver area.
While training for my fight at the Eastside Boxing Club, I have realized that everyone in our Vancouver community has different realities. We are all SO TRULY FORTUNATE to have sufficient education and a solid foundation to build up on and achieve all our amazing goals!
So please SUPPORT me to help at-risk women and young kids get that same opportunity... to help them get disciplined and stronger through boxing, so they are given a chance to DREAM too!
I need YOUR SUPPORT for this cause, your donation to this program will help me fight for our community.
At SoulCycle, my amazing instructor Daniela says, "if one of us grows, we all grow together as a community. If I get through to the fight finals, it means we all TOGETHER will help strengthen our community!"

Founded in 2012, Aprons for Gloves Boxing Association is a non-profit organization focused on providing community outreach through the sport of boxing. Based in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the organization was developed by a small group of professionals and entrepreneurs who seized an opportunity to re-establish a historic boxing program for at-risk women and youth. The program offers free mentorship and training to individuals who may otherwise not have the resources or support to participate in such activities. The sport of boxing teaches discipline, respect, hard work and self-control. Training results in positive self-esteem, good health and camaraderie for its practitioners.
Restaurant Rumble 2019
Every year bartenders, chefs, dishwaters, servers, baristas and all sorts of individuals from the Gastown community get together to train at the Eastside Boxing Club to fight in Restaurant Rumble.
In order to attend training, each fighter is required to raise $2000 for charity before they can compete at the Rumble.
