55 Weeks running

It has been raining in South Florida for two weeks, but sadly that rain doesn't stop rescue as along with welcoming new pups from Puerto Rico this weekend, we also welcomed a beautiful girl named Florence who didn't have the luck to come to DRSF so early in her life to avoid years of hardship and neglect.

We have seen the story over and over again for a decade.  A senior "stray" turned into the shelter with the same calling cards of likely a lifetime of being a 2nd thought, and nothing more than a "to do" on someone's list each day.

Florence arrived at a local shelter with a mass on her neck and mammary tumors from never being spayed.  She would not be able to be adopted in the condition she was in and so, we placed our rescue hold and Florence became a member of our DRSF family.

Upon her release, she was whisked to LeadER, where she was welcomed with love and care, bloodwork was done, masses aspirated for evaulation, x-rays taken to ensue there wasn't anything else lurking that we were unaware of, and the most important medicine....she was hugged, and loved, and told that she was safe <3

Depending on what the bloodwork and aspirate samples come back with, Florence may have a consult with Dr. Ratterree, Veterinary Oncologist, ahead of her, but for whatever lies ahead for her, she is safe and loved with us <3

We are only able to continually keep our doors open to dogs like Florence thanks to your support, helping and supporting us one by one to cover their care.  We are back again to ask your kindness and generosity for Florence so that we can give not only her, but the next little one right around the corner the same chance! <3
