It is a known fact that different countries speak different languages. Thus, there is such a thing called language barrier. However, people should remember that many countries have an official language, as well as a so-called second language. Such have helped many tourists and immigrants in many ways. Taking such into consideration, a language that is commonly used as a second language in most European and American countries is Spanish. Likewise, apart from Spain , there are 21 other countries that consider Spanish as their official language. With such in regard, many people are already becoming interested in learning the above-mentioned language. That is because of the many potential benefits that they can gain from such.
With a lot of traditional and online schools that are already offering Spanish language courses or programs, learning the language in Spain is very possible. However, as observed by many tutors and Spanish natives, there are certain mistakes that learners commonly make. One is that they often do not use the proper pronunciation of some letters or words. Most of them often pronounce the "B" and "V" letters in a different manner. However, in Spanish, both are pronounced in a similar manner. They also often forget to trill the letter "R", which is very distinct to native Spanish speakers. A second common mistake that learners commit is following the word order or sentence structure that is being used in English grammar.
A mistake that learners often commit is forgetting that in Spanish, the verb usually comes before the noun or subject. By following the common English sentence structure, wherein the noun comes before the verb, the meaning of the Spanish sentence becomes different. Thus, there will be miscommunication and misunderstanding when such is not observed keenly. Nevertheless, in constructing sentences in Spanish the adjective also always comes before the noun. Similarly, most learners also often translate idioms word-per-word. Thus, when they do so, the meaning of the idiom also becomes different. Taking such into consideration, it is always recommended that you should not be your own translator . Meaning, they should stop translating. Instead, they should have a mindset that they are a Spanish speaker.
Another mistake that is very common in many individuals who learn Spanish is the proper use of articles like "a", "an", and "the". Most of the time, they interchange the usage of definite and indefinite articles. The good thing is that such mistake will not cause any misunderstandings or miscommunications. It will only make the speaker sound awkward and funny. In addition, Spanish language learners also often use pronouns in a very unnecessary manner. It should be noted that in the Spanish language, the speaker has the option to omit or not to use the pronoun.
With such common mistakes, Spanish language learners should always remember that such can be resolved through frequent practice. Likewise, they should also expect that they will commit mistakes along the way and such is just okay as long as they correct it in the long run. In addition, they should also try to immerse themselves in the language. Meaning, they should also use it, as well as listen and read Spanish materials.
