We have been helping cancer patients since the 1970’s. Our mission has always been to arm patients with all the resources they need to fight cancer. We provide research, education, support, and empowerment. The nature of the disease is such that timely intervention may translate into life or death. The traumatic effect that a cancer diagnosis has on individuals and their friends and family is such that the information and support offered must be clear and direct yet kind and filled with empathy. The American Cancer Fund, established as a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, was created precisely to provide education and information in a kind caring manner. We strive to empower individuals diagnosed with cancer and their families to make the best educated decision about their treatment options and resources. As a virtual web- and helpline-based organization, the American Cancer Fund’s community spreads across the country. Every day people from all of our communities reach out to us in search of the tools they need to fight for their lives and the lives of a loved one diagnosed with cancer.

Each cancer patient and his/her family is different. The American Cancer Fund has trained staff and volunteers who listen to the individual concerns and fears, and help him/her develop an individualized plan of action to meet their needs. Some of our helpline callers may be seeking mammogram screenings in their state, while others may have a diagnosis of esophageal cancer and want to know the best available treatment options.
