Ok, folks this could be huge.  We need the community to pull together here.  We have scheduled 2 days in a low income neighborhood for free spaying and neutering for at-risk pets.  If we can demonstrate the need for this, All About Animals said they would help us apply for a grant to have free spay and neuter available to residents in the targeted zip codes like they do in Detroit, Mt. Clemens, and Clinton Twp.  Those of us from Genesee County KNOW the need is great.  We have to PROVE it so we can apply for the grant.

We’ve scheduled two days for All About Animals to bring their mobile unit right to a struggling neighborhood on the east side of Flint.  This is within walking distance for the residents there since many have no transportation.   All About Animals will be spaying and neutering only these pets ALL DAY LONG, and while this service will be provided to these at-risk pets free of charge, we still need to reimburse All About Animals for their costs, therefore we are asking for donations.  We estimate this to cost about $3800, maybe more, for both days.   I told you this was a big one.  But long term, this could be huge.  If the grant is approved, All About Animals would come to these hard hit areas in Flint regularly to spay and neuter pets for FREE.  Think about the long term effect that could have on reducing the dog and cat population in Genesee County.  Think about all the puppies and kittens who wouldn’t be so readily available to dog fighters.  Think of less animals being dumped at animal control to be killed there.  We have the opportunity to make a difference.  Let’s show them that we desperately need this in Flint.  Please contribute anything you can toward this event.

We have secured $1200 in matching donations.  ($500 from Rescue a Friend and $700 from individual donors.)  Please don’t let that $1200 go to waste.  Every dollar you donate will be doubled, up to $1200.  I would also like to thank Commissioner Jamie Curtis for his very generous donation toward this as well.  Let’s stop the littering in these neighborhoods!
