7 years ago, Sea Explorers had to overcome its first humanitarian crisis when the Philippines was struck by Typhoon Yolanda. During this period, many of you asked us how you could help the team in Malapascua survive that terrible episode. Together with your help, we were able to rebuild our Sea Explorers branch in Malapascua and give them back a decent life. Together, we prevailed.

Once again, we face adversity with COVID-19. But this time, it is all the entire team of Sea Explorers who is affected. COVID-19 does not spare anyone, and the Philippines is no exception. At the end of March, the government decided to lock down the country and tourism instantly took a big hit. All diving businesses are now closed and everyone is trying to find a way to live until divers are allowed back in the country.

A company has a duty to help and support its employees to every extent possible. During this period of temporary closure, supporting our people becomes even more important, and we feel personally concerned about their situation and the urgency of providing them with basic needs.

Once again, many of you have asked us how you can help the team. As shareholders, we have decided to create this fundraising campaign and contribute to it ourselves, and now we're sharing this effort with you. Given our experience after Yolanda, we know that online contribution is the easier way, so we can share updates on our progress and how the funds we have collected will be used for the team. This also assures you that there is no delay in disbursing the emergency funds.

In the beginning of June, we have already distributed the first batch of emergency help from the fundraising. This is actually the second batch; the first emergency help was distributed to all Sea Explorers employees directly by the company mid-April.

In the coming months, we are convinced that with your heartfelt donations, we can continue to help all of our employees during the difficult months ahead. Let’s weather this storm again together. Thank you for your generosity.
