Positive Life Kenya hasn't added a story.
Dear Friends and Partners of Positive Life Kenya
Receive greetings and best wishes from Mlolongo. Despite the hard
times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are still resilient, full of energy
and hope towards our mission. Positive Life Kenya believes in the
Children as the custodians of our future. That’s why with each coming
day we continue to invest in their dreams and enrich their capacities.
Our Tumaini and Kiotani Schools offers the best channels to ensure
quality education interventions.
As we look into the
future, we celebrate our Sponsored Children today with such enormous
pride; we thank all of you that have invested both time and resources
to ensure our young generation lives up to its purpose. It also
saddens us to share news that the pandemic brought about lockdowns
where our children were sent into isolation and confinement back into
the forgotten slums.
Through your continuous love and
support, we have constantly done our best to provide food and water,
masks, hand sanitizers and other medical interventions. As expressed
by many children through our social workers, many families are
struggling to keep it together during these hard times and as a
result, our Children are still going through tides of emotions and
challenges.
Some girls have fallen pregnant despite
our numerous efforts to provide life skills and mentorship. We have
been forced to rescue some of the pregnant girls into a safe house
where we are taking care of them until they give birth and are ready
to continue with school or learn new skills.
The Kenyan
Government has expressed interest to open schools in the coming months
but all schools and learning institutions must comply with specific
guidelines. This new directive has given the children hope to go back
to school, being provided space for learning, personal reflection and
recovery after the effects of the pandemic, and self-expression which
is important for the healthy growth of the children.
This directive involves fumigating the schools, installing hand
washing stations, creating isolation rooms for suspected and detected
COVID cases, provision of additional social distance spaces in
dormitories and classrooms, provision of face masks and
sanitizers.
These requirements were not in our original
annual budget hence the need to reach out to you for support. We have
a budget requirement for Kiotani based at Kshs
1,645,200 and Tumaini based at Ksh 672,700
respectively. If you are interested in seeing the detailed budget for
these new requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@positivelifekenya.org.
We humbly ask for your support, kindly share widely this need with your family members and friends.
We look forward to seeing our children back in schools. Thank you very much for your support in making this happen!
Stay Safe,
Positive Life Kenya Team
