Martha Briceno hasn't added a story.
Hi! If you are seeing this campaign, probably one of my friends linked you here. Let me introduce myself: my name is Martha. I am Venezuelan, so maybe you have heard about our massive immigration to other countries, due to socioeconomic and political reasons.
Last month I arrived here in Lima I found a room and job. I started my process to become legal in Peru. Everything was going well.
However, I had a limited amount of savings, approximately 300 USD. I used that money to pay my room (that month and rental warranty) and migration papers. I thought I would had my money back after my first payment. But my first payment was a scam.
My first boss tricked me, I worked with him for 2 weeks and he was supposed to pay me 250 soles but he paid me less than that. We never discussed about less than that for my first work, (also he was a little bit creepy, asking for my passport as a way to keep me working with him)
After that, I started working on another job, aaaaand, my second boss did the same to me. He paid me 350 soles when he was supposed to pay me 600 for my first 15 days. Even worse, he said this money was an advance for March. So. According to him, my 15 days were for free, and he never say that to me in first place.
Besides, finding a room and migration papers, I have been spending my savings in commuting, food, internet for my cellphone (I don't have a laptop, I left my PC in Venezuela.) since my landlord doesn't provide internet.
Right now I don't have any money left.
Last week, my cellphone broke and now I am on debt for 330 soles.
I am embarrassed of asking people to help me. I have always been.
But, this is the time where I understand that no (wo)man is an island.
Right now I am on another country, alone, and currently waiting to become legal and to have a job that can help me to become stable.
My family and friends have been my emotional support line, but in this economical issue they can only offer me support and prayers.
These days have been really dark for me, being moneyless, jobless, with already a debt.
All the things I dreaded in Venezuela happened, I know it's material stuff but I am scared that my landlord will take my things out if I don't pay on time. I don't know anyone here.
My rent is 320 soles, plus my debt is 330 soles which is approximately $200.
I am using my friend's PayPal to get the funds. So don't worry about your help won't reach me.
Help me to go through this awful thing that it is being a vulnerable female immigrant, moneyless in another country.
