Dachshund Rescue South Florida hasn't added a story.
Another little one with a horrible skin condition has found their way to our doorstep asking for help....Meet Drake
Drake had been living for quite some time in a great amount of pain and discomfort, but took matters into his own hands in one of the most unique "self rescue stories" we have ever heard.
This sweet little boy, COVERED in fleas was dumped in the shrubs outside the Maimi Springs Police Department. Somehow, he managed to step in the right place to get the door open and prodeeded to walk in, essentially asking for help and seemingly knowing that he had come to the right place.
As as luck would have it, one of our DRSF fosters works at the police station and immediately placed a call to our team who hopped in the car to get him and bring him in. (Unfortunately, Drake had to spend some time in a jail cell to keep him safe and secure until we could get there!)
When Pam for there, she found Drake crawling in fleas. Drake was wrapped in a blanket and brought back up to Broward to Dr Bruce's Animal Hospital where he began treatment immediately for his condition.
His entire body turned into a wash if blood when the water hit him to start getting the fleas off and more and more kept coming as they were combed out.
Matter some additional bathing and meds, Drake was tucked into a cozy bed with some good food and promptly fell asleep.
We are back again to ask your support to ensure that webcam cover Drake's expenses and be there for the next little one we know is not far behind! Would you consider a donation of any size to Drake's care?
