Canadian Athletes Need Your help!
Canada was the first country to host the Commonwealth Games, and we’ve participated ever since. But since 2011 our Government funding has been reduced by 70%, and in recent years, corporate donations have slowed as well. As a result Canada is at risk of not being able to send a team to future Commonwealth Games. We need your donations to help ensure Canadian athletes can continue to achieve more sporting firsts.
The Commonwealth Games - Important Contributor to Canadian High Performance Sport
Did you know Canada's Commonwealth athletes win 80% of the medals Canada wins at the Summer Olympic Games? Many athletes have told us that going to the Commonwealth Games contributed significantly to their Olympic and Paralympic Success. Canadian athletes have consistently established World "firsts" at the Commonwealth Games and we want to continue to have our athletes shine on Commonwealth podiums.
The Numbers
It costs $1.8 million to send a full Canadian team of athletes to the games. (Approx. $6,000 per athlete.)
Currently we receive $1 million from the Government and sponsors, but we need to raise $200,000 per year or we'll risk losing a team forever.
If we don't raise $800,000 per quadrennial there will be no more firsts , no more trips to the podium, and certainly no chance to host the Centennial Commonwealth Games in 2030.
We need your help!
Millions of Canadians will donate to worthy causes on November, 27th, #GivingTuesday. We ask that you consider this Commonwealth Campaign for your charitable donation this year. With your help we will be able to continue to enable Canadian athletes to excel at the Commonwealth Games and inspire the next generation of Canadian hopefuls.
Don't let 2022 be the last year Team Canada participates in the Comm onwealth Games! Please donate today.
Note:100% minus merchant fees will be contributed. Tax receipts provided.
