Fundraiser to help with medical bills and expenses for The Gibson Twins and family.
Joseph Bradley Gibson Born 6/7/2014 @ 8:13 p.m. 2 lb 7 oz. 16 in
Jacob Aaron Gibson. Born 6/7/2014 @ 8:14 p.m. 1lb 10oz 13 in
Around March of this year my son and daughter n law found out they were going to be blessed with not one but two beautiful baby boys.
On June 5th, 2014 my daughter n law Jamie went to see her high risk doctor. They told her the fluid was higher in baby A and officially diagnosed the twins with Twin-to- twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) which is more serious and rare condition that occurs only in identical twins.
The blood flow and fluid levels changed in the twins so the doctors scheduled a procedure to reduce the amino fluid and hoped this would help the babies and make mom (Jamie) more comfortable, at 27 ½ weeks this was risky. Later that day Doctors informed the family they needed to do a c section to take the twins they were born at 8:13 and 8:14pm, both were rushed to the neonatal ICU unit.
Baby A (Joseph) has had some high blood pressure readings so they did a kidney ultrasound. He has graduated from the open bed (radiant warmer) with the moisture shield to an isolette, which is the big plastic container you usually see with the two round holes for access. This means they don't need to access him as much and his skin is a little tougher and keeps moisture in better. He seems much more snuggly and comfortable. He no longer needs the bili lights for jaundice and is almost off of the nasal air flow. He is getting 6cc of milk per feed and doing well. He also now has a PICC line. His numbers are great and he is doing well with his PICC line.
Baby B (Jacob), Jacob was born quite a bit sicker being the smaller one and due to Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome his brother was getting all his red blood cells. Since he was born he is having trouble keeping his oxygen saturation high enough. He has had to have platelet and blood transfusions and has a #2 bleed on his brain and the hole in his heart.
Mon (Jamie) is having problems getting her PB under control since the boys were delivered and may end up back in the hospital if they can get it under control.
Aside from those issues dad, Neal has two ruptured discs in his lower back and he' been in a lot of pain and will eventually need surgery, though he continues to be a wonderful husband, provider and dad.
Mom and dad are having to travel an hour each way to visit with the babies and have two small children at home Sallie 5 and James 3. Not knowing how long Joseph and Jacob will be in the hospital this is taking a toll on them. Please help by donating what you can and pray for my family and for the twins.
