Cloudbridge is a private nature reserve which protects the Cloud Forest of the Talamanca mountains of Southern Costa Rica.  Adjoining the Chirripó National Park, this reserve was created in 2002 by Ian and Genevieve Giddy, who fell in love with this unique Cloud Forest.  Almost two decades on, Cloudbridge has reforested 255 hectares of land, received researchers from around the world, conducted environmental education programs and provided a home to a staggering variety of plants and animals. 305 species of birds have been identified on the reserve, as well as 45 mammals, including all six of the wild felines found in Costa Rica.  Vulnerable populations such as Baird's tapir, the oncilla, Dice's cottontail, jaguar and margay thrive in the biodiverse cloudforest of Cloudbridge Nature Reserve.

The context of climate change lends urgency to our mission of conservation, research and education.  Now, more than ever, the activities of Cloudbridge Nature Reserve are making a positive impact that can be felt the world round.  The ecosystem services provided by a biodiverse rainforest are fundamental to our health and well-being, and the experience of planting trees and conducting research in the cloudforest has touched researchers from around the world, who go home with a broader perspective and enthusiasm for contributing to conservation projects in their own countries.

However, the pandemic that has impacted so many on a global scale has drastically cut into our revenue stream, making it difficult for us to meet our basic operating costs, let alone fulfill our dreams and goals of upgrading our research lab and expanding the reserve to provide uninterrupted habitat connectivity to wide-ranging animals who travel between the reserve and neighboring protected areas.  This Summer, all researchers and volunteers have had to cancel or postpone their stay at Cloudbridge, leaving our small staff responsible for the ongoing camera trap animal density monitoring program and bird surveys.  Our staff has not received their full stipends or wages since before April, yet their commitment to the reserve is exemplary.  All donations received will directly support our conservation efforts on the reserve, fulfilling our operating expenses and allowing Cloudbridge to continue to offer a unique and unforgettable experience to all who visit.

Please share this fundraising campaign widely, and donate generously within your possibilities, to support a truly worthwhile cause.  Cloudbridge Nature Reserve is owned by Cloud Forest Conservation Alliance, a US-based 501(c)3 non-profit, so your donation is fully tax-deductible!  For more information, we invite you to watch this video, check out our monthly blog,  and feel free to contact us directly by writing to
