Hi
My name is Pete, and I've started this campaign on behalf of my extended family for my aunt Ruth Guymer.
Please read, donate and share.
❤️ On behalf of my family... thank you ❤️
Millie’s Legacy - A home for her Mum
On the morning of March 29th, 2018, Ruth's youngest daughter
Amelia Daisy Guymer, otherwise known as Millie, tragically lost her
life following a fall from a beach cliff in Encinitas, California.
She was only 22 years old and at the very beginning of her life.
For the past 2½ years, Millie had been living with her mum, Ruth, who was a live-in carer for an elderly lady. Millie had severely fractured her ankle, and Ruth was supporting her through numerous surgical operations.
The majority of Ruth’s income and savings were given to paying for medical care and treatment during that time. With Millie gone, it would be too difficult for Ruth to return as a live-in carer, so the need to support her through this very difficult time and find a place to live is a matter of urgency.
Many people have asked how they can help. The greatest need is to provide Millie’s mum, Ruth with a home. The family are focused on raising funds to make this happen and in some small way help her face an almost unbearable future.
All donations will go into a protected fund to provide a home for Ruth, long-term.
Thank you for taking time to read this. All donations will make a difference.
Please donate and share.
Millie
Anyone who knows Millie, knows that the beach was her favourite place and it was here, by the water’s edge that she was collected by Angels from Heaven and carried to her eternal home.
At just 22 years of age she was taken far too soon, though while she was here on earth for such a short time she touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Loving, giving and wise beyond her years, she has left a huge hole in the lives of not only her immediate family in the US, but also her extended family in the UK.
We are asking you to contribute towards a home for her mum, Ruth, to create Millie’s dream ‘ A House of Friends’ - a place for Ruth's children and grand-children to come and go, for friends to visit, a place of love, comfort and security.
Please donate and share.
…..I have a house
I have a house where people gather
It is full of love and revelation
It’s where people come and gather……
I have a house that sparks conversation…..
I have a house
It is a house of art and freedom
It is a house of dance and shouting
The walls echo loud singing
There is a kitchen and a sink,
No one is a slave to it,
It has friends only
And there is a pig and there is a lamb
There are places to take photos
And places to swing
I have a house and I thank God that I have a friend in God
Dear God, I trust You with my future
I put it into Your hands
I trust You
I trust You
I trust You
Excerpts from Millie's Journal
From Ruth
Our precious Millie finished High School and made a decision to take time out before more studies to learn how to live on her own and become brave. She went to Australia and though it was difficult at first, she worked and found accommodation, supported herself and proved she could do it.
We kept close with Facetime and went through her experiences together. One day she was with friends and jumped down some steps completely shattering the bones in her ankle. The next 2½ years were filled with surgeries and walking with pain.
The bone died causing complications for recovery. Eventually we were able to get on a list for a bone donor. This would make it possible for her to walk again. The bone had to take on new blood supply to be successful. A suitable donor was found and she had the operation and we believed for the best.
Four months later she still had pain and we were in the waiting period, trusting God to make things right. Millie's spirit remained strong and yet it was so tough for her. She loved to surf, to dance, to run and skateboard, she was a free spirit who loved to be outside and moving freely.
It was the hardest thing to see her restricted, but we were looking forward to the day when her body was completely healed and she could live life to the fullest once again.
Millie is our ray of sunshine, our beautiful, loving, compassionate darling. Life without her here to hug and listen to, to laugh with and cry with is almost unbearable.
On the financial side, all my earnings for this part of our lives have been dedicated to medical expenses and supporting each other. I had to stop putting anything aside for the future as a result of Millie’s ongoing medical needs.
We are a closely knit family and having our Millie taken away from us is so much to bear. My desire is to have a place where my family can gather and call home. I would like to thank my family and friends for all they are doing to support me from the bottom of my heart!
I love you all dearly!
From Ruth’s wider Family
It was when Ruth returned to the US, after a short break visiting her family in the UK in 2013 that she injured her neck leading to paralysis of her arm. At that time, she had built up her own successful business and the injury meant that she could not work and she lost her business and consequently her home.
After surgery on her neck and a long recovery period, during which she was lovingly looked after and cared for her through her convalescence, by her dedicated children, she found a job as a live-in carer.
Throughout the family’s life, Ruth has created many incredible homes, where everyone has always been welcome.
On behalf of her wider family, we want to honour Ruth and her immediate family at this dreadful time and offer our support, by endorsing this fundraising initiative as a very fitting and significant legacy.
We cannot start to imagine the depth of pain as the family face the future without their precious Millie.
Please donate and share.
