The Ecoforestry Institute Society is committed to saving Wildwood Ecoforest from being sold to private interests. Wildwood was originally purchased through public donations and we are working to ensure it is held in trust and in the public domain.

The Ecoforestry Institute Society is a charitable non-profit organization of ecoforesters and associated professionals dedicated to protecting the legacy of Wildwood Ecoforest and its former owner, Merv Wilkinson

Merv bought the property in 1938 and became renowned for his eoforestry practices and stewardship of a working sustainable forest.  He harvested timber while maintaining the ecological values of the forest, and was awarded the Orders of Canada and British Columbia for his work.

Today, Wildwood stands as a rare jewel of old and second growth, a healthy and resilient forest.  Bought with public donations, it was entrusted to the care of The Land Conservancy.  TLC is now facing significant debt issues and has announced its decision to sell Wildwood to private interests.

EIS has offered a $600,000 contribution as well as land trust and covenant protections, all to no avail.  EIS must now continue to raise significant funding for legal and operational costs to ensure Wildwood remains in the public domain as a working forest and as an educational opportunity for generations to come.

The Beg, Borrow, But Don’t Steal $100 Wildwood Challenge

The challenge:  We challenge each and every Wildwood supporter to raise $100 in donations.

Here’s how: beg or borrow from family and friends; do a couch dive for spare change; do a doggy wash; offer to help someone garden – just don’t help yourself to someone else's stash. You may even be able to raise more than $100!

If not, don’t worry. Each and every dollar that comes our way is valuable to us and will be used to protect Wildwood. EIS is a charitable non-profit organization and tax receipts will be issued for all donations.

This is your chance to save Wildwood for generations to come!
