**UPDATING STORY AND NEW REQUESTS**
We continue to raise funds to help pay for incremental expenses (hotel, gas, meals, tolls, etc) being incurred for Jarrod's kidney transplant due to glomerular thin basement membrane disease (basically a birth defect w whereby the kidneys can no longer filter his blood) which are not covered by insurance.
**UPDATING STORY AND NEW REQUESTS** I am not sure if everyone has continued to follow Jarrod’s progress after leaving the hospital so here is a synopsis for those of you not receiving updates. Jarrod’s kidney transplant was successfully performed on February 27th, he was sent home to Waco on March 7th and received a good report at San Antonio follow-up appt on March 10. On Wednesday, March 11, he suffered a violent vomiting & diarrhea episode ending up in the Waco E.R. and admitted to Providence Hospital. On Friday, March 13, Waco doctors transferred him back to San Antonio Specialty and Transplant Hospital because kidney function was digressing and rejection concerns. After finally ruling out rejection on Sunday, S.A. doctors determined his anti-rejection medicine, Prograf, was at toxic levels. His Therapeutic Level should be “6”, but Jarrod’s levels on Sunday were “30”! This Prograf toxicity causes major negative issues, up to and including kidney shut-down.
Since Sunday, Prograf levels have gradually decreased and tests for kidney blood flow and function are looking better; but at this point, doctors are not giving us any kind of timeline as to when Jarrod can be dismissed and go home. This is a day-by-day process, and we are thankful for the Doctor Team’s continued diligence.
REQUEST: PRAYERS - Jarrod and Family are cautiously optimistic about Jarrod’s progress but PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY for continued improvement of kidney function and that kidney has not suffered irreparable damage.
Everyone has been generous and wonderful thru this transplant process. Thank you for your support.

ORIGINAL STORY - We are raising funds to help pay for incremental expenses (hotel, gas, meals, tolls, etc) being incurred as a result of Jarrod's kidney failure due to glomerular thin basement membrane disease (basically a birth defect which recently came to light whereby the kidneys can no longer filter his blood) which are not covered by insurance.
Our son, Jarrod, is 34 and currently in end stage renal (kidney) failure. He has been on hemo-dialysis since December 2013. Jarrod is a Texas state trooper and has been able to continue working even through some very difficult periods of his disease. We are thankful to the Texas Dept of Public Safety for their support over the last two years. We are also thankful for Jarrod's wonderful wife, Holly, who has dealt graciously with the many difficulties involved in living with an end-stage renal failure patient. Jarrod is blessed to have her by his side.
Jarrod now has a live kidney donor (our heart-felt thanks go out to her) and Jarrod's transplant surgery is scheduled for February 27th at Methodist Transplant and Specialty Hospital in San Antonio. Thankfully, most of the expense for Jarrod's kidney transplant surgery and follow-up visits will be paid for by insurance. But Jarrod and Holly will still have a substantial amount of expenses that are not covered by insurance (including deductibles, travel expenses for Jarrod and his donor, hotel lodging and meals for both Jarrod's caretaker and his donor's caretaker, toll payments, etc.) that will be incurred during the time before and after Jarrod's kidney transplant surgery takes place. Jarrod will also have to travel back and forth from Waco to San Antonio for follow-up appointments every two weeks for the next 6-12 months incurring more travel expenses.
Requests:
- Currently, Jarrod's transplant surgery is scheduled for February 27th. The only contingency is that both Jarrod and his donor do not become sick between now and then. Please pray that both Jarrod and his donor stay well during this pre-surgery period.
- We sincerely ask for prayers for the success of the surgeries for both Jarrod and his donor.
- Next we are asking for financial assistance to help with the incremental expenses which Jarrod and Holly have already incurred, along with lodging and travel expenses for the transplant surgeries for Jarrod and his donor, and then more travel and lodging expenses incurred over the next year for follow-up appointments in San Antonio. No donation is too small and we are thankful for any assistance you can provide.
Thank you all for your consideration of these requests. May GOD Bless You.
