Hi, this is Rabbi Dovid B. Kaplan.

I need you to help a Jewish mother who is fighting a custody battle for her children and can’t afford to do so on her own.

The father had kept the children from their mother for three years, withholding both their address and phone number. When the mother was finally reunited with her children, the children were thrilled, and told their mother of neglect, lack of food, lack of medical care, and that the father had told the children that their mother abandoned them and doesn’t love them.

The mother filed for emergency custody which was granted. CPS (child protective services) then interviewed each of the children separately and found that the father would often come home drunk, neglect the kids, make them do many hours of housework, leave the children home without proper supervision, has had at least 4 different girlfriends living in the home with the kids, and so forth.

Unfortunately, because the father lives out-of-state with the children, New York’s CPS has no legal control over this case, despite their strong recommendations.

The father is a convicted felon and hasn't held a job in almost a year. He has had a number of live-in girlfriends living in the home with the children. Police were called to the house a number of times for domestic disputes with his girlfriends, and the father was, at one point, arrested for battery when he punched a girlfriend in the face... All while the children were at home.

The father has recently started making increasingly violent threats against the mother and the children. A restraining order was issued, preventing him from further threatening or approaching the mother. The mother fears not only for her personal safety, but for that of her children who are still living under his roof. Unfortunately, this has turned into an interstate custody battle, and the mother needs to travel to his state within ten days in order to fight to save her children.

Funds are urgently needed at this time to cover the costs of this legal battle.

I am asking you to please help by donating as generously as you can. No child should ever have to grow up with neglect and abuse.

If you would like to take part in this huge mitzvah please donate here, or send paypal funds to:email@hatzolahems.org and specify that it is for this cause.

100% of the donations are guaranteed to go to the cause. I am personally accounting for all donations, which are being used for legal fees and traveling costs.

Thank you, and in the merit of your giving, may you be blessed with everything that you need!
