Deer was saved from death row once. Seniors for Seniors USA, a nonprofit rescue specializing in saving senior cats from high kill shelters, rescued Deer in June of 2012. He was happily fostered for 5-6 months by one of S4S' fosters and adopted out to a new family in January 2013.

When Deer was adopted in 2013, he was perfectly healthy with no issues. He is being returned tonight, at age 13, because he is in diabetic crisis - a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. His adopters want what's best for him but they just can't handle this type of expense or crisis.  This is a major medical emergency, and he's going to be immediately hospitalized. This is not going to be inexpensive. The vet (where he's at now) suspects he's had untreated diabetes for quite some time to be in this bad a condition.

Deer is fighting for his life. His former foster is stepping up to give him care and will be taking him back - God willing - as soon as he is medically stable, but we have to get him over the hump and through this crisis first, and that's going to take funds that a small rescue just doesn't have on hand. PLEASE - help us help Deer. Give if you can - your donation is tax deductible. No amount is too small. And please SHARE - the power of many small donations makes the difference.

Deer will be at Kenhaven Animal Hospital receiving care. We will post copies of the bills as we get them and keep everyone updated.

He was saved once - he's a loving, beautiful boy who deserves a chance.  Help us give him that.
