Amy Hutchinson hasn't added a story.
First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this. I want to say this cry for help is a last resort because I know there are so many people who need help for many different reasons.
I have been married to a man in the military for over 16 years. We are in the middle of a divorce and things have not been going smoothly. We have two teenage children and I have been the primary care giver throughout our marriage. One thing many people do not realize or think about is what a military spouse does. While the husband (in this case) is defending our country, the spouse holds down the house. She (or he) has to take care of maintaining the home, caring for the children, and everything else that both parents do. If or when the spouse gets a job, it is based around the soldier's job. If the soldier has to move (which is very often and usually about every 3 years), the spouse has to work around it by quitting the job, leaving friends, meeting new ones but with hesitation because of the fear of losing that friend when the military spouse moves, and many other things. A military spouse balances her or his whole life around their husband or wife. It is like starting a new life every few years. My last job I had was at the Leavenworth County Sheriff's office as a corrections officer. I loved the job but as soon as my husband was deployed, I had to quit my job.
Last year, I was devastated to learn about the events that were to come. June of 2013, my husband told me he wanted a divorce; just a few weeks later, he was gone and moved out. Without going into detail, I was willing to try just about anything to save our marriage; that was not going to happen though. He had already made up his mind.
I have been trying to find a job for many months now and have been having many difficulties and obstacles. The money situation is very bad and I cannot afford representation. I had one in the beginning but he dropped me because he said I could not afford him. After researching, I found a pro bono attorney. While I am grateful for the attorney's service, I am not getting represented like I want. She is wanting me to settle with no child support and very low maintenance which is only for a few months. I want full custody as well and she is against this even though the child custody investigation was very favorable for me. I know the attorney is wanting this to be over and she told me that if this case goes to trial, she will have to withdraw. I guess the saying is true: you get what you pay for.
Along with the divorce, I am struggling with every day necessities. My soon to be ex is paying the mortgage (for now) and some utilities but I do not have money for gas, food, my own personal bills, or things to do with the kids. Sadly, the children are the ones who are suffering the most out of all this!
Once I find a job, I have to find a place to live because I will not be able to afford the mortgage. This will include security deposits, first months rent, moving costs, and much more. I have no family here to help us with this. I moved hundreds of miles away from where all of my family, friends, and life was to live with my husband and support him and the Army. I never imagined I would be at this point today.
On top of everything that has happened with the divorce, I have been diagnosed with ischemia because of some mini strokes which just happened back around February of 2014. I am currently being tested to see if I have brain or heart ischemia and hope to know something by the end of June; there are many tests I have done and still have to do. Once the divorce is final, I will also no longer have insurance. Fortunately, the kids will at least. However, in my case, I am trying to find a job with good insurance because of my health problems. Whether I have heart ischemia or brain ischemia, I will still have doctor and hospital bills.
Like I said, this is a last resort and I am praying whoever reads this can understand my intentions. I am not trying to bash my husband or to make him look bad. I am simply asking for your help until I can get on my feet. With your help, this can happen. No matter how much you can give will really help me and the kids and would be gratefully appreciated! Once I am over this hump, I do plan on paying it forward by donating to different causes on this website. If you don't trust that the money is going to me or what I am asking to go to, please, feel free to contact me. I can show you documents or explain anything needed.
I have one last request...please forward this to anyone and everyone please. Every cent counts and the more who knows about this, the more help and hope that gives the kids and I. Again, thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless.
