The purpose of the Joseph Betustak Jr. Memorial Foundation is to raise funds for cancer patients in honor and in memory of Joe Betustak, Jr. who fought, with dignity and strength, a losing battle against bone cancer.  The foundation solicits donations from corporate and individual contributors.

Funds shall be distributed to:

  • families in need of assistance due to financial hardships resulting from the monetary and emotional stress caused by a family member having a terminal illness, or
  • charitable or religious organizations that support and foster such families.

This year, the Foundation has chosen to conduct our 9th Annual Joe B. Memorial Benefit Motorcycle Run & Party On The Lake on behalf of Jazmine DeJesus and Amber Gallagher.

Jazmine DeJesus is a vibrant and loving 5 year old girl who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.) on May 8th, 2013. She currently goes to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in downtown Chicago once a week for her chemo treatments, spinal taps, and she also takes medicine at home. She is a very bright girl who loves to do arts and crafts and loves music and dance. She is currently in kindergarten but has to miss a lot of school due to the chemo and the other medications that she is on. She says when she gets older she wants to be a doctor so she can help other kids who are sick.

Amber Gallagher was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in November 2013. She has undergone 3 cycles of chemotherapy and her latest scan taken in January showed great results which cleared her for radiation therapy. Her treatments began in January and continued for 3 weeks. She is on her way to becoming cancer free. She is a talented, caring, strong-minded 15 year old who is a proud Cheerleader for Highland High School. Her bright smile, close relationship with God and family, and super positive outlook on life have brought her through her fight with grace and beauty, and she has become an inspiration to so many. She is taking on cancer in true Cheerleader form.

We are humbly requesting your support to help out Jazmine DeJesus, Amber Gallagher, and others going through unimaginable hardship. Your donation and your help will be greatly appreciated. Your generosity will make a difference.  Thank you for taking a moment to read this, for your consideration, and for helping.
