Two Borzoi puppies, Luna and Sascha, were rescued from a Northern California kill shelter in January 2014.  Both puppies, born in November 2013, have microphthalmia, a birth defect that causes an abnormally small eyeball.  The defect can result in blindness.  UC Davis confirmed, Sascha is almost totally blind, and Luna has slight vision. Both puppies have cataracts that will potentially rob them of their sight all together. I am raising funds to help pay for their spay and neuter surgeries, ongoing eye treatments, and DNA testing to help identify the cause for this debilitating birth defect. We are working with UC Davis and researchers in Michigan to try to establish a genetic connection to this disability that will set the stage for prevention of a devastating defect in a breed that relies heavily on it's eyesight.  Any and all help would be appreciated.
