Jessa Bedke hasn't added a story.
Friends we have some very heart breaking news about a dog that we took into our rescue yesterday. This boy's name is Trooper and you will soon find out exactly why we picked that name. Trooper was picked up by the sheriff when his owner abandoned him on his property. When we first saw Trooper he was extremely emaciated and we also noticed that his face seemed to be very swollen on one side. Trooper was such a loving dog from the first time we met him but we knew he was in extreme pain by the defeated look on his poor face. We had no idea just how bad he was suffering until we brought him to the vet yesterday. Upon examination the vet informed us Trooper had been shot on the right side of his face. The bullet ripped through his mouth and shattered all of his upper and lower teeth and jawbone on the right side of his mouth. Consequently, all of his teeth will need to be removed on this side. A severe infection has started in his mouth and his upper and lower jaw may be infected as well as a result of his injury. Trooper also has a very high fever and may possibly have pneumonia. In spite of all of this our veterinarian has said that Trooper has a chance for recovery and a normal life. This boy is such a sweetheart and even though he was in severe pain he let the vet look inside his mouth without any issue. Trooper is currently at the vet and they have started him on a strong course of antibiotics and pain meds to get the infection under control before he can operated on. He is eating well and has a warm blanket and shelter today at the vet's office for the first time in a very long time...... We are not yet sure who shot Trooper but the sheriff's office will be pursing animal neglect charges at the very least. There is currently a warrant out for the arrest of the person who lived on this property. We are also anticipating significant veterinary costs for Trooper and we will be starting a fundraiser for him as soon as we know more details on what exactly he will need to have done. We will need to raise ALL of the funds for his treatment. We have been hit pretty hard this month and our vet care fund has been depleted. We will post an update as soon as we hear more news. Thank you everyone!!!
UPDATE:
Trooper is well enough to have surgery tomorrow!! He will be having a mandiblectomy, removal of all of his teeth on the right side of his mouth, a neuter and removal of a rock lodged in his stomach. He is in great hands at green acres and we can't thank them enough for all of their hard work and love for these Angels we bring to them for a second chance at a furever home. Prayers for trooper as he begins his journey to begin his second chance at life!
Donations can also be made directly by phone or mailed to Green Acres Vet Clinic under our account -Trooper-Friends of Burley Shelter Animals-(208) 734-2711 Address: 868 Green Acres Dr. Twin Falls, ID 83301. Thank you!!
